Metrics are computed from the raw data, so they now start where it does.
What changed
Each metric series starts on the first day of the raw series it is computed from: flow with trades, l1_price with quotes, funding with funding rates, and so on. A metric that needs several raw datasets, such as basis, starts with the latest of them. The start is per symbol, so a symbol listed later starts its metrics with its raw data. /api/v1/metadata/raw lists every raw series' first day.
Raw trades and quotes start here:
| Venue | Trades and quotes start |
|---|---|
| Binance USDⓈ-M | January 2020 |
| OKX | September 2019 |
| Hyperliquid | January 2025 |
The metrics API no longer returns files from before those starts. Some earlier months were served until now, including December 2019 on Binance, April to August 2019 for some OKX symbols, November to December 2024 on Hyperliquid, and the first months of symbols listed later.
What you need to do
Nothing, unless you relied on those months. Requests are unchanged. A date range that reaches back before a series' start returns files from the start on, and a range entirely before it returns an empty files list rather than an error.
Hyperliquid slippage starts later than its raw data, in January 2026.
