Amberdata is now part of Kaiko. Kaiko announced the acquisition on June 2, 2026 (Kaiko, Cointelegraph, checked September 25, 2026). The announcement disclosed no pricing change, sunset or migration plan, and Amberdata's API and docs are live as we write. For the parent company, see Aperiodic vs. Kaiko.
Where Amberdata wins
- Venues and pairs. Amberdata lists “1,000 + Centralized and Decentralized Exchanges” and “500K + Trading Pairs” (amberdata.io, checked September 25, 2026). We cover three venues.
- History. Amberdata states “13 + Years of Historical Data” (amberdata.io, checked September 25, 2026). Our self-serve tiers carry 3 years (4 on Prime). Full history is on our Institutional plan.
- Options analytics. Amberdata runs a dedicated options analytics platform, AD Derivatives, and its site menu offers “Sign Up Now (No Credit Card Required)” for it (amberdata.io, checked September 25, 2026). We have no options data.
- DeFi, on-chain and reference rates. Amberdata sells DeFi lending-protocol data and “Reference Rates, Indices, and Benchmarks” (amberdata.io, checked September 25, 2026). We sell neither.
- Scale behind it. With Kaiko, the combined company states 260+ clients worldwide (Kaiko, checked September 25, 2026).
If any of these is your requirement, Amberdata or Kaiko is the right call.
Where Aperiodic is the better alternative
The price is on the page. Amberdata's pricing page lists two plans, Startup and Enterprise, with no dollar figures and a request-a-quote form. It also says “Amberdata market data is now available to purchase online” (Amberdata pricing, checked September 25, 2026). Aperiodic self-serve is $29 to $699 a month billed yearly ($35 to $879 month to month, see pricing), with no sales call. Self-serve plans carry a personal licence. Funds and desks need our Institutional plan.
You can evaluate the data itself before you buy. This command returns a real preview file with no API key:
aperiodic funding --preview --exchange binance-futures --symbol perpetual-BTC-USDT:USDT \
--interval 5m --timestamp exchange --start-date 2025-05-01 --end-date 2025-05-31 \
--output-dir ./dataIt returns 8,928 rows, every 5-minute bar in May 2025. In that month the Binance BTCUSDT perpetual's funding rate was positive in 89.8% of bars, with a median of 0.0053% and a range of -0.0144% to 0.0100%. You can check the share yourself on the file the command writes:
import pandas as pd
df = pd.read_parquet("data/2025-05.parquet")
(df["funding_rate"] > 0).mean() # 0.898The preview is free. Beyond it, funding is a Tier 1 dataset, included from the Core plan up.
Funding is one dataset of 19. The same command shape works for order flow, slippage, L1 and L2 order book imbalance and liquidity, basis and open interest: 220 metrics across 19 datasets (catalog), point-in-time, from 1 minute to 1 day self-serve.

Migrating Amberdata funding-rate data
Amberdata documents the response fields of its perpetual funding-rates analytics endpoint publicly (docs, checked September 25, 2026). This is how they map. We have not mapped Amberdata's other endpoints, such as historical funding rates, here.
| Amberdata funding-rates field | Aperiodic |
|---|---|
| exchange, instrument, symbol | --exchange and --symbol flags, e.g. binance-futures, perpetual-BTC-USDT:USDT |
| timestamp | time, one row per bar (1m to 1d) |
| fundingRateNormalized8h | funding_rate: the last rate observed in the bar, as the exchange reports it. Not normalized to 8 hours. |
| fundingRateIntervalHours | No equivalent. funding_rate_update_frequency and funding_rate_avg_update_interval measure how often the published rate updates within the bar, not the hours between funding settlements. |
| realizedFunding, realizedFundingCumulated | No equivalent. Compute from funding_rate and your position. |
| marginType, quoteAsset, underlying | Encoded in the symbol |
